NEW BOOK BY ISEF ALUMNUS, NAPHTALY SHEM-TOV

ISEF alumnus, Dr. Naphtaly Shem-Tov's book, Acco Festival: Between Celebration and Confrontation, chronicles the history of the Acco Festival for Other Israeli Theater from 1980-2012.

This well-received work provides an insightful history of a cultural institution, which has brought together acclaimed directors and actors, fringe artists, and local Jewish and Arab residents for more than 40 years.

Dr. Shem-Tov is a senior lecturer in the Department of Literature, Language and the Arts at The Open University of Israel.

PAYING IT FORWARD:
NESHER'S MAYOR AVI BINAMO STRESSES IMPORTANCE OF BRIDGE TO COLLEGE PROGRAM TO YOUNG SCHOLARS

Tenth graders and their ISEF tutors kicked off 2017 with their second group workshop of the “Bridge to College Program” at the Nesher Community Center on January 1st.

Special guest, ISEF alumnus and Nesher’s mayor, Avi Binamo, proudly spoke about his ISEF experience and the program’s success. He urged students to maximize the resources given to them.

ISEF Kicks Off “ATID” Next Generation Leadership Program

In November 2013, a select group of nine Jewish young professionals embarked on an exciting 6-month leadership development program. Our participants are learning about The ISEF Foundation’s history, extensive network of scholarship support and incredible youth programs throughout Israel’s peripheral and disadvantaged communities. We are thrilled to see ISEF’s young ambassadors-in-training so inspired by their meetings with board members and scholars, as they learn more about what makes ISEF such a unique and impactful organization.

A Midsummer Starry Night Launches ISEF’s Next Generation

More than 100 Jewish young professionals came out for ISEF’s sizzling summer rooftop event on July 17th, hosted by Mike Maltz and Josh Michelman of Coalesse and Empire Office, Inc. Friends, old and new, enjoyed sushi and wine in the beautiful Steelcase building showroom, overlooking breathtaking views of Central Park and Columbus Circle. ISEF International Fellow Dr. Moshe Elkabets spoke about his incredible journey from the development town of Ofakim in southern Israel to becoming an Associate Scientist at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center here in New York City. This was a truly inspiring evening and one to remember!

ISEF’s annual International Fellows Seminar brought together 13 of our phenomenal doctoral and postdoctoral students from top universities all over the United States and Canada. Our Cocktail Reception following the seminar brought together ISEF’s Young Leaders and Fellows for a remarkable evening, featuring acclaimed author Andre Aciman.

3rd Annual Sukkot Benefit October 18, 2011

This year, ISEF held its Sukkot celebration at the Upper East Side home of Emma and Samy Mahfar. A lively evening filled with good food and good friends also featured an intriguing discussion about the current state of the Middle East, led by award winning investigative journalist Joel Mowbray.

Dr. Liav Orgad Awarded Major Grant for Immigration Study

ISEF graduate, Dr. Liav Orgad, has been awarded a €3.5 million grant to help shape the immigration policy of the European Union.

Dr. Orgad is a Faculty Fellow at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University and Associate Professor of Law at IDC Herzliya. Last fall, he published his first book, "Cultural Defense of Nations: A Liberal Theory of the Rights of the Majority," and was recently inducted into the prestigious International Global Academy.
